About InterMedical Hospital of SC

1998. IMH fills a vital need by becoming the only long-term acute care hospital in the South Carolina Midlands. Its mission is to treat patients who require intense nursing and prolonged hospitalization. Its strength is expert, long-term acute care that gives patients valuable recovery time. IMH is a self-sufficient, efficiently managed 35-bed hospital located in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina. An eight-member Board of Directors governs IMH, a nonprofit organization.

A full medical staff and more than 150 credentialed physicians representing multiple disciplines comprise IMH. IMH medically manages acute care patients with

- infections requiring several weeks of intravenous antibiotic therapy
- complex wounds, stage III or greater
- dependency upon mechanical ventilators for life-sustaining support requiring a strategically designed weaning program
